Each year our Festival Team has enjoyed working together to deliver a special story-time event for the Under 5s in the village. This year is no exception and everyone is very excited to be putting on a Wylam version of The Giant Turnip. A traditional Russian folktale, it tells of a grandfather who plants a turnip, which grows so large that he cannot pull it up himself. He asks the grandmother for help, and they together still cannot pull it up.

Successively more people are recruited to help, until they finally pull the turnip up..but only with the help of the help of the weakest and smallest creature of all - the mouse. The moral of the story is of course, collaboration. If we all work together, we can do anything - even put on a Festival….in Wylam!
