This morning Wylam Winter Tales is pleased to host the ‘Wylam Clean Tyne’ Group as they run a live panel discussion about how to clean up our beautiful local river - the Tyne.

Some 86% of all rivers in England and Wales fail tests of ecological standards. 100% fail chemical tests. 17% of bathing waters are excellent in the UK. All of these are on the coast and none inland. By contrast, in Austria 97.7% are excellent quality. Things could and should be very different.

According to a major Rivers Trust report, water companies and agriculture are the main polluters. Wylam Clean Tyne Group have gathered together representatives from the water industry, farming, the environmental movement, and water science to identify the obstacles, fair and foul, and to discuss how we can clean up rivers locally and nationally.

An impartial chair will keep proceedings civil at all times. They will take questions in advance and distribute them appropriately to panel members, challenging inaccuracy where apparent and enabling an interesting and informative debate for all.

This morning’s panel is run by Wylam Clean Tyne Group

Our Wylam Winter Tales Cafe will be pleased to serve you teas, coffees, soft drinks and snacks during this morning’s event.
